What we do

Detailing services for fabricators & erectors

From full structural packages to one-off miscellaneous metals, we deliver detailing that is accurate, well-coordinated, and ready for the shop floor.

Structural Steel Detailing

Member-level 3D models and fully dimensioned shop drawings for columns, beams, braces, trusses, and frames — built to your fabricator standards and checked against the EOR design drawings before they reach your queue.

Miscellaneous & Architectural Metals

Stairs, handrail, ladders, platforms, grating, embeds, lintels, and ornamental work detailed to fit the field — clean geometry and finishes called out so fabrication and erection match the architect's intent.

Connection Coordination

We coordinate connections across the model — interfacing shop details with the connection design, resolving conflicts with the EOR and other trades, and driving RFIs to closure so nothing surprises you at fit-up.

Shop & Erection Drawings

Complete submittal-ready packages — shop drawings for the fabricator, plus erection drawings, sequence sheets, and field bolt lists for the crew. Issued for approval, tracked through back-checks, reissued cleanly as comments resolve.

BOMs & Material Takeoffs

Accurate bills of material and advance bills pulled straight from the model so purchasing can release steel early and shop loading stays predictable — plus fast takeoffs for bidding when you need numbers to win the job.

What you receive

Submittal-ready deliverables, in your shop's format

Every package is pulled from the model and issued in the outputs your shop, your CNC, and the field actually run on.

  • PDFShop & erection drawingsSubmittal-ready, back-checked, cleanly revised
  • NC1CNC output — NC1 / DSTVDrives beam lines, drills, and saws on the floor
  • IFCIFC model exchangeCoordinate with the EOR and other trades
  • DXFDXF for plate & profilePlasma, laser, and waterjet-ready geometry
  • BOMBOMs & advance billsRelease steel early, keep shop loading predictable
  • KISSKISS / MIS & field bolt listsBolt summaries the crew can work straight from

Detailed to the standards your spec calls out. We work to AISC 303 (Code of Standard Practice), the AISC Steel Construction Manual, AWS D1.1, the RCSC bolting specification, and NISD detailing practice, alongside your project specifications. We follow these standards in the work — ClearPath is not a certifying body and does not represent itself as certified to them.

Platforms & deliverables

We work in your fabricator's preferred platform

We detail in the platforms your fabricators and erectors already trust — and deliver in the format your shop runs on.

Matched to your house style. We detail to your shop's existing standards — your title blocks and templates, bolt and weld conventions, piece-mark scheme, and layer setup — so our drawings drop straight into your current set and everything stays consistent across the job.

How we work

A clear path from contract drawings to closeout

Disciplined detailing, coordinated connections, and revision control you can plan a schedule around.

1

Scope & Setup

We review the contract drawings, specs, and your shop standards, confirm the connection-design path, and lock the deliverable schedule against your shop loading and erection sequence.

2

Model & Detail

We build the 3D model and develop shop and erection drawings, coordinating connections — delegated to a licensed PE when required — and clearing interferences before anything is issued.

3

Submit & Back-Check

Drawings go out for approval as a clean submittal. We track EOR comments, drive RFIs to resolution, and incorporate back-check markups without dropping revisions.

4

Release & As-Built

Approved drawings, BOMs, and advance bills release to the shop and field on schedule. We carry revisions through fabrication and erection and deliver an accurate as-built record at closeout.

Quality control

A two-stage check on every package

Mistakes are cheap to fix on the screen and expensive on the shop floor. Nothing is issued until it has cleared both passes.

01

Detailer self-check

The detailer verifies their own work against the EOR drawings, the specifications, and the latest RFI responses — dimensions, grades, hole patterns, weld and bolt callouts, and piece marks — before the package moves on.

02

Independent back-check

Every package then goes to our dedicated checking department — a checker independent of the detailer reviews it against the source documents, logging and clearing markups before anything is issued. The EOR's own back-check comments are carried through the same controlled process.

Revisions are tracked end to end, so a back-check comment never gets dropped between submittal and release.

Who details your steel

Drawings from someone who has built the steel, not just drawn it

The person behind ClearPath spent 20 years on the fabrication side of steel — running material, fitting, and welding in the shop — before moving to the detailing desk. That shop-floor background shows up in the drawings: pieces detailed the way they actually get built, handled, and fit up, with the details that bite a fitter at the bench caught before they ever reach the floor.

About ClearPath Ventures

Detailing built on accuracy, coordination, and clear communication

ClearPath Ventures LLC is a steel detailing firm serving fabricators, erectors, and general contractors. We turn architectural and structural drawings into the precise shop and erection documents that keep projects moving — from full structural packages to focused miscellaneous-metals scopes.

Our work follows AISC detailing standards and your project's specifications, backed by the two-stage check that keeps errors off the shop floor. We coordinate closely with the Engineer of Record on connections and stay responsive through submittals, back-checks, and revisions so nothing stalls.

Delegated connection design, done right. When a project calls for it, we pair our detailing with connection design developed in coordination with — and sealed by — an independent licensed Professional Engineer. The PE owns the connection calculations and the engineering stamp; ClearPath coordinates the design forces and EOR requirements, incorporates the engineered connections into the drawings, and manages the stamped submittal. ClearPath does not perform or stamp engineering in-house and does not act as the Engineer of Record.
  • Checked, buildable drawings — accuracy verified against the EOR drawings before submittal.
  • Connection design delegated to a licensed PE — engineering accountability where it belongs.
  • Model-driven BOMs and advance bills so purchasing can release steel early.
  • Consistent with your set — your templates, conventions, and piece-mark scheme, carried across the whole job.
  • Delivered in your format — Tekla, SDS/2, AutoCAD, Inventor, or SOLIDWORKS.

Questions, answered

Common questions about working with us

Which software do you detail in?

We detail in Tekla Structures, SDS/2, AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, and SOLIDWORKS, and we match your shop's existing house style — title blocks and templates, bolt and weld conventions, piece-mark scheme, and layer setup — so our drawings drop straight into your current set.

Do you stamp or seal engineering?

No. ClearPath Ventures is a steel detailing firm and is not the Engineer of Record. We do not perform or stamp engineering in-house. When a project requires connection design, it is delegated to and sealed by an independent licensed Professional Engineer; we coordinate the design forces and EOR requirements and incorporate the engineered connections into the drawings.

What is delegated connection design?

It's connection design developed under a delegated-design arrangement and sealed by an independent licensed Professional Engineer. ClearPath coordinates the design forces and EOR requirements, captures the engineered connections on the drawings, and manages the stamped submittal. The PE owns the connection calculations and the engineering stamp; ClearPath does not act as the Engineer of Record.

What deliverables do you provide?

Submittal-ready shop and erection drawings, model-driven BOMs and advance bills, CNC and fabrication output such as NC1/DSTV, IFC model exchange, DXF, KISS/MIS bolt lists, field bolt lists, and revision and as-built records — delivered in the format your shop runs on.

Which detailing standards do you follow?

We detail to AISC 303 (Code of Standard Practice), the AISC Steel Construction Manual, AWS D1.1, the RCSC bolting specification, and NISD detailing practice, alongside your project specifications. We follow these standards in our work; ClearPath is not a certifying body and does not represent itself as certified to them.

Where are you located?

ClearPath Ventures is based in Pueblo, Colorado. Detailing is delivered digitally, so we can support fabricators, erectors, and general contractors regardless of where the project is built.
